Young Artist of the Year

The Webber Wentzel Young Artists' Competition is now in its 7th year. Young artists from townships in the Gauteng region have entered each year to showcase their talents. The prizes are considerable, and finalists' artwork is exhibited at the offices of Webber Wentzel and auctioned to staff and clients.

This year, we’re looking to award almost R30 000 in prize money to young South African artists whose creative talents shine brightest. The theme for the Webber Wentzel 2009 Young Artist Competition is I HAVE A DREAM....

Registration closes on Thursday, 30 July 2009. Forms can be faxed to (011) 530 6728 or post a copy to Christine Makama at Webber Wentzel, PO Box 61771, Marshalltown, 2107.

All artwork must be received by Thursday 27 August 2009. Please note that no late entries will be accepted.

 2008 Competition

The winners of the 2008 Young Artists of the Year competition were announced on 22 October with one of last year’s winners, Aristo Makeba (17), a former street child from the Congo, once again triumphing in his category. This is the 7th year that Webber Wentzel has sponsored the R30 000 competition that aims to develop and promote the artistic talents of disadvantaged young South Africans from Gauteng.
